John Peters obtained his PhD from Virginia Tech in 1995 and was an NIH postdoctoral fellow at Caltech. He is currently Presidential Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Oklahoma. He has been appointed a Laboratory Fellow at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He has been elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Academy of Microbiology. His main interests are in electron transfer processes focusing mainly on aspects of hydrogen and nitrogen metabolism and, more recently, electron bifurcation.
