Her research focuses on the control and modulation of redox processes in living systems (biomimetic) catalysis and chemical energy conversion. The scientist did her PhD in chemistry at University of Belgrade, followed by a time as assistant professor.
In 2008, she completed her habilitation at Friedrich-Alexander University, Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). In the same year she declined an offer for a professorship of Bioinorganic Chemistry at the University of Texas at Arlington (USA) and was appointed as the Chair of Bioinorganic Chemistry at FAU. Since 2020, she holds the Chair of Bioinorganic Chemistry and Coordination Chemistry at LMU Munich.
