Timothy H. Warren (Tim) is the Rosenberg Professor and Chairperson in the Department of Chemistry at Michigan State University. He obtained his BS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1992, received his PhD from MIT in 1997 with Prof. Richard R. Schrock and performed postdoctoral research at the University of Münster with Prof. Dr. Gerhart Erker.
Tim started his independent career at Georgetown University in 1999 and moved to Michigan
State University in 2021. Tim’s research interests span synthetic and mechanistic inorganic, organometallic, and bioinorganic chemistry with a focus on catalysis. His research group develops environmentally friendly methods for organic synthesis via C-H functionalization, explores the interconversion of nitrogen and ammonia as carbon-free fuels, and decodes ways that biology communicates using nitric oxide as a molecular messenger.
